The Taraba State Police command said it has arrested a suspected commander of the Cameroon separatists group, Ambazonia in the State.
The State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Shokoya, confirmed the arrest at an interactive session with political parties on Thursday ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He said, the suspect, called General Basile, was arrested in Kurmi Local Government Area of the state.
Kurmi is one of the five Local Government Areas of the state bordering the Republic of Cameroon.
Shokoya said before the arrest, the suspect had been causing mayhem in border communities of Taraba and Cameroon with his group.
He added that investigation was ongoing and assured that the suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the laws of Nigeria.
