Four people have been killed by bandits in an attack on Goska community, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
The incident was said to have occurred at about 4:30pm on Monday.
The Kaduna state commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan confirmed the killings in a statement on Tuesday in Kaduna.
Aruwan said the attack was reported to the state government by security agencies.
He said the bandits invaded the community and killed four residents.
The statement said those killed include, Wakili Kon, Yusuf Joshua, Martha Ayuba and Lami Peter.
According to Aruwan, “Wakili Kon and Yusuf Joshua were attacked and killed on their farms by the assailants.
“One woman, Laraba Silas, sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to hospital.”
The commissioner said, “Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed sadness at the reports, and prayed for the repose of the souls of the residents who were brutally killed by the bandits.
“The Governor sent his condolences to their families, and wished the injured citizen a quick recovery.”
The state statement added that security patrols were ongoing in the general area, alongside investigations into the attack.
Meanwhile the House of Representatives member representing Jema’a/Sanga federal constituency, Hon. Shehu Nicholas Garba had condemned the killings.
In a statement on Tuesday in Kaduna, he lamented that the attack less than two weeks after a similar incidents at Golkofa and Godogodo where five people were killed.
“These killings have followed a regular pattern that is incessant and without any apparent trigger.
“We condemn such cowardly and dastardly acts which motivate is to put the people in perpetual state of fear especially now that the farming season is setting in.
“We challenge the security agencies to unravel the perpetrators of these criminal acts and bring them to book, the statement said.
According to the lawmaker, failure to carry out thorough investigation of similar acts in the past have created an atmosphere of impunity which has continued to embolden the criminals.
“I, on behalf of myself and the People of Jema’a/Sanga, wish to condole the immediate families of the bereaved and the Kaninkon Community.
“We urge the people of Goska to remain calm while being very vigilant just as we urge the security agencies to end the impunity by unraveling the perpetrators of these crimes and bringing them to book”, Garba said.
