Police arrests 28 suspected criminals in Taraba, recover arms

Taraba State police command says it has arrested 28 suspected criminals terrorising the state.
The commissioner of police, David Iloyanomon disclosed this at a press briefing in Jalingo on Thursday.
He said also said the command is looking for Shiban Tikari, a former Chairman of Takum Local government area, in connection with murder in 2017, of Hosea Ibi, who was at the time, a member of the State House of Assembly.
Tikari is said to be on the run following a court order for his arrest for allegedly killing the lawmaker in 2017.
Two people who stood trial in the murder of Ibi were in March 2024, convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the kidnapping and subsequent murder of the legislator.
The convicts were said to have confessed during the trial that, Tikari asked them to kidnap and murder Ibi.
The police commissioner said a large cache of arms and ammunition as well as a Tricycle, charms, 102 cows, motorcycle and other items were recovered from the suspects.
He said the police is leveraging on the support and cooperation of other security agencies and the good people of Taraba State to fight all forms of criminality with remarkable achievements.
