Five senior members of the Keffi Old Boys Association (KOBA), an umbrella body for Old Students of the famous Government College, Keffi, Nasarawa state, are among the 437 prominent Nigerians nominated by the federal government to receive national honours.
The awards will be presented by President Muhammadu Buhari on October 11, 2022, at the State House,Abuja.
The KOBA members to be honoured, according to the list released by the federal government, include, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, who is nominated for the award of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON); late Chief Judge of Kogi state, Nasir Ajanah, to be posthumously awarded with Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR); and Prof. Doknan Sheni, a former Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University, nominated for the award of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
Others are a retired federal permanent secretary, Mr.Musa Mikfuktur Istifanus, nominated for the award of OON; and His Royal Highness, Chief Martins Kure Abeshi, a former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, also listed for the award of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).
According to the list, five persons, namely, Senate President Ibrahim Lawan, Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola; former CJN, Tanko Muhammad, Director – General World Trade Organisation (WTO) Dr. Okonjo-Iweala; and the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, are nominated for the award of grand commander of the order of the Niger (GCON).
Those listed for the award of Commander of the order of the Federal Republic (CFR), are the late Chief of Staff to the President, Alhaji Abba Kyari, late Chief of Army Staff, Major Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Oladayo Amao, among others.
