Two soliders have been reportedly killed in an attack by bandits at a military base in Kutungare village, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
Two of the soldiers were said to have sustained serious injuries while three villagers were abducted by the hoodlums.
Sources in the community said the attack took place at about 3am on Thursday.
The bandits who were said to be many in number, reportedly engaged the soldiers in a fierce gun duel .
The source said the two wounded soldiers and the corpses of their deceased colleagues were taken to a health facility in Kaduna by the military.
Spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, Mohammad Jalige, could not be reached when contacted as his mobile telephone was not connecting.
