Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau state, has asked those aggrieved over happenings in the state assembly to go to court to seek for remedy.
The governor who dismissed insinuations that he masterminded the crisis rocking the house, maintained that, “for us, this is the beauty of democracy and the dividends of autonomy which everyone knows that I fought for over many years, and also became the first governor in Nigeria to implement.”
The house was plunged into crisis in October 29, 2021, when six of the 24 lawmakers impeached the speaker, Ayuba Abok and replaced him with
Yakubu Sanda.
The the removal of the speaker by six members of the house, was widely condemned by many Nigerians who described the act as unconstitutional.
However, speaking while swearing in 15 newly appointed special advisers on Wednesday at the Government House Jos, the governor said the allegations that he masterminded the removal of the speaker was unfounded.
He called on the people of the state to “disregard all the misinformation and campaign of calumny targeted at the government” and his person, over the crisis in the house.
“For us, this is the beauty of democracy and the dividends of autonomy which everyone knows that I fought for over many years, and also became the first governor in Nigeria to implement.
“After all, the third arm of government, the judiciary is there for anyone who feels aggrieved over happenings in the house to approach it for remedy.
“There is, therefore, no need for media propaganda, insults, threats and blackmail which unfortunately has been championed by some interested parties to gain political relevance”, the governor said.
The governor said the new appointees were people who played various roles at different times in not only ensuring that his administration came into office but also making sure it succeeds in building a peaceful and all-inclusive Plateau.
He urged them to add value to governance and deliver quality services to the people.
