The Arewa Youths Assembly (AYA) has described the emergence of Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo state as winner of Saturday’s off cycle governorship election as a testament to achievements and leadership quality.
In a statement on Monday in Kaduna, Mohammed Danlami, spokesperson of the AYA, noted that Uzodimma’s overwhelming, victory in the 27 Local Government Areas of the state, is evident that he is leading Imo without any form of segregation and is accepted by the people.
“The Arewa Youths Assembly extends warm congratulations to His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodinma, on his well-deserved re-election victory in the recently concluded gubernatorial elections”, the statement reads.
“We acknowledge that this triumph is a result of his commendable achievements over the past four years.
“Governor Uzodinma’s dedication and commitment to the progress of Imo state and Nigeria at large have been evident in the transformative initiatives he has implemented during his first term.
“We believe that his re-election serves as a testament to his leadership qualities and the positive impact he has had on the state.
“He is the first governor to win all the 27 Local Government Areas in his state.
“It is evident that he is leading Imo without any form of segregation, hence, his uniform acceptability across the state”, the group said.
The statement called on other candidates who lost the election to put aside their differences and work with Uzodinma for the development of Imo state.
The group asked those aggrieved with the outcome of the election to pursue legal means by approaching the court and avoid fomenting trouble.
“We stand against fomenting trouble or engaging in any activities that may disrupt the peace and harmony of our beloved state. peaceful resolution through legal channels is vital for the stability and prosperity of our country”, the statement added.
Danlami commended all individuals and organizations whose efforts contributed to the peaceful and successful conduct of the elections, ensuring a free, fair, and transparent process.
” We extend our appreciation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, observers, and the electorates for their dedication and commitment to upholding the democratic values of our nation”, he said.
