The Taraba state government has appealed to the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to reconstruct the collapsed Namnai bridge along Jalingo/Wukari highway.
The deputy governor of the state, Aminu Alkali, made the appeal on Thursday, when the management of the commission paid him a courtesy vist in his office in Jalingo, the state capital.
The bridge which recently collapsed following massive flood in the state links the North East and the Southern part of the country.
The deputy governor stressed the need for a quick reconstruction of the bridge considering its strategic significance to the economic activities of the people.
The deputy governor commended the commission for providing massive infrastructure in Taraba state.
Speaking earlier, Goni Alkali, Managing Director of the commission, said their visit was to inspect projects in the state.
He said that the inspection of the projects was aimed at ensuringe quality early completion.
