Over 160 staff of Taraba State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Jalingo, have cried out over none payment of their 21 months salaries.
The workers who appealed to Governor Agbu Kefas to intervene, said they have not been paid since their employment by the institution in 2022.
Some of the staff who spoke, but pleaded to remain anonymous said they have been struggling to survive the excruciating economic hardship in the country.
They said their situation has deteriorated to the extent that they can no longer feed their families nor pay children school fees.
The workers urged the governor to pay their salaries to alleviate their sufferings.
“We want to let our father, governor Agbu Kefas, know that since our employment in 2022 as staff of Taraba state college of Agriculture, science and technology Jalingo, we have not received any salary.
“We are appealing that Kefas as a father and a man of God who has shown love for the civil savants, introducing ideas that would redefine the civil service of Taraba for better, should please commence our payment to ease our suffering”, one of the staff said.
“We are not protesting, we are only crying to the governor to consider us.
“We want to believe that the governor who has so much passion for education has demonstrated interest in developing the education sector of Taraba State.
“He is an action governor who is working round the clock to ensure Taraba is great, so we believe that he has not been properly brief about our case and suffering,” another staff said.
However, reacting, Tino Maigida, the state Head of Civil service said, the governor will look into the matter soon.
“The governor asked me to see him with their memo when he comes back,” Maigida said.
