The Saudi Arabian authorities have announced the sighting of the moon’s crescent marking the beginning of Shawwal and the end of Ramadan.
With this development, Ramadan will be 29 days long, while Eid-el-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday in Saudi Arabia.
“The crescent moon has been sighted in Saudi Arabia. Eid-Al-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, 30th March 2025,” Haramain, a Saudi-based online resource outfit, wrote on X.
“May Allah accept our siyam, qiyam and a’mal and may He allow us to witness many more Ramadāns in good health. Amin.”
In Nigeria, the federal government has announced Monday and Tuesday as public holidays.
Muslims in Nigeria await the sighting of the moon in the country and the declaration of the festivities by the Sultan.
