He said, “The revocation, which was approved in 2023, was aimed at protecting public interest and ensuring a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
“In line with Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to human capital development, the decision was part of broader efforts to improve educational infrastructure across the state.”
He added that the state government has commenced the process of refunding payments made by allottees in respect of the revoked property sales.
Mayere added that Sani had always emphasised that effective learning required a distraction-free atmosphere th and reiterated that education remains a vital tool for social mobility and economic empowerment.
According to him, “Since taking office, the administration has focused on expanding access to quality education by addressing infrastructure gaps in both primary and secondary schools.
“Notably, one of the governor’s early actions was the reduction of tuition fees in all state-owned tertiary institutions on August 21, 2023.
“The administration has since constructed over 2,336 new classrooms, renovated 707 existing ones, and supplied 3,704 furniture units for teachers and 30,742 for students.
“Additionally, the state government has drilled 51 boreholes and provided 918 toilet cubicles across local government areas to enhance hygiene and learning conditions in schools.
“The revocation underscores the government’s resolve to prioritise education and safeguard schools’ environments from encroachment and non-academic use.”
