Police arrests 21 suspects for attempting to disrupt elections in Kaduna

The Kaduna state police Command said it has successfully apprehended 21 suspects for attempting to disrupt the smooth conduct of the recent local government elections in the state.
In a statement on Thursday in Kaduna, spokesperson of the command, Mansir Hassan, said the arrests were made by police officers from Operation Fushin Kada, who acted swiftly to prevent the planned obstruction of the electoral process. According to him, “the suspects, identified by the police as political thugs, were arrested while attempting to block transportation routes and disrupt the distribution of election materials by targeting ad-hoc staff members assigned to oversee the election logistics.”
Hassan said, “some exhibits recovered from the suspects includes, sharp weapons and hard drugs.”
He added that the suspects were being held in custody and will be charged accordingly. Hassan said, “Investigations are ongoing to determine if there are further links to other individuals or groups involved in the attempted disruption.
“The Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Abdullahi, commends the officers of Operation Fushin Kada for a swift response and urged citizens to remain law-abiding and continue to cooperate with the police as they work to ensure peace in the state.”
