The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has commenced the establishment of a Digital Economy Centre (DEC) in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The agency had in August given approval for the establishment of the centre following a request by Sunday Katung, the senator representing Kaduna South senatorial district.
Katung had in a letter to the agency, dated July 18, 2023, requested for the established of DECs in five secondary schools in his constituency, including women and youth training centres to empower unemployed youths.
The equipment for the installations were delivered on Saturday by an official of NITDA to Simon Yusuf, Principal of Government Secondary School, Kafanchan, where the project is located.
The NITDA official assured that installation of the equipment would be completed within one week.
The equipment/accessories delivered to the school include, branded desktop conmputers, VSAT equipment, Battery rack and accessories, 30 HDMIVGA converter, 300-WATTMOND-Cristal line solar panels and 1KVA generator among many others.
Reacting to the development, Katung commended NITDA for its prompt approval and action on his request, adding that
the centre will be a game changer for unemployed youths in the area.
