Muhammed Alkali, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), says the commission has initiated 134 projects in various sectors across Taraba state.
Alkali disclosed this on Monday when he led members of the NEDC board on a courtesy visit to the state governor, Agbu Kefas, at the Government House, Jalingo, the state capital.
Alkali said the visit was to introduce new members of the board recently inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu and to monitor some of the ongoing projects in the state.
He said most of the projects have been completed and ready for handing over, while some were at various stages of execution and will be completed at the stipulated time.
Responding, Governor Kefas, commended the NEDC for the projects and pledged the full collaboration and support of the state government to the commission.
He said, “This visit attest to your commitment to Development of the region. I am aware of the challenges confronting our region, both infrastructure and security.
“I am optimistic that with the right collaboration, we would overcome.
“The NEDC plays a crucial role in achieving our goals and so we hold you in high esteem.
“I commend the commission for their proaction in collaborating with the state. We would provide all the necessary collaboration and support to ensure full implementation of your projects in the state”.
The governor called on all other stakeholders to join hands in achieving the desired development of Taraba state.
“We cannot limit ourselves to the government alone. The task ahead of us is enormous but not insurmountable”, Kefas added.
