The Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) have condemned alleged campaigns of calumny against the National SecurityAdviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. In a statement on Monday in Kaduna, the group warned those behind the dastardly act to deceased from distracting the NSA from the critical work of securing the nation.
The statement signed by Isaac Abrak, chairman of NCYP, said the wave of attacks and criticism against the NSA, were unfounded and uncalled for.
The group urged the NSA not to be distracted by the falsehood being spred across social media platforms by disgruntled elements and enemies of the nation.
The statement noted the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria and commended the Ribadu for his commitment, dedication and professionalism in addressing them.
The statement also noted that although public service, particularly in high-stakes positions like the NSA’s, is often accompanied by scrutiny, stressing however that it strongly believe the focus should remain on the greater task of national security rather than being distracted by unpatriotic elements.
“The NSA has demonstrated a resolute commitment to addressing these issues and working towards a safer and more stable Nigeria,” the statement said.
The group urged Nigerians to reject division and refrain from malicious attacks on leaders working tirelessly to strengthen the country.
Abrak said constructive criticism is vital for growth and development, but attacks aimed at undermining national security efforts should be discouraged.
He further appealed to those engaging in baseless rumours and attacks, including respected elders, to fear God and consider the consequences of their actions.
“Life is fleeting, and every individual will one day give an account before the Almighty,” the statement reminded.
The group urged Ribadu to be resolute and focused in his service to the nation.
The NCYP declared its support and solidarity with the NSA and assure him of continuous prayers.
