Plateau state governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has said that President Bola Tinubu is the first in recent history to demonstrate the political will to address the security challenges facing the state.
Mutfwang who stated this on his X handle, commended the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle and service chiefs for visiting the state following the mass killings by bandits.
The bandits, had on Christmas eve, invaded communities in Bokkos, Mangu and Barikin-Ladi Local Government Areas of the state, killing over 160 people while over 200 houses were set ablaze.
Mutfwang said, the visits were a demonstration of the political will to mobilize all security assets to deal with security challenges in the state.
He said, “I wish to thank the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and the service chiefs for visiting our state.
“This is part of efforts by the federal government to ensure better security and welfare for the victims of the recent attacks.
“The outcome of this meeting is that we have seen the demonstration of political will to be able to mobilize all the security assets to deal with this problem that has been with us for a while”, he said on his X handle.
According to him, the problem bedeviling the state, “is not a recent problem, it has been reoccurring over the years.
“This is the first time in recent history that a president demonstrates such political will to be able to ensure that the monster in the room is gotten rid of.”
Mutfwang said, alot of relief materials, medical supplies had been deployed to the IDPs camps while those in the hospitals were being attended to.
“The State Emergency Management Authority and the National Emergency Management Authority have responded.
“We will continue to do our best, our ultimate target is not just to stop the bandits from attacking but to also ensure that those from the affected communities are able to return back to their communities”, the governor said.
