Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau state has said that some unscrupulous elements were sowing a seed of discord between him and the judiciary to achieve selfish political interest.
The governor was reacting in a statement to reports that he accused judges of receiving $5 million bribe to nullify his election.
The governor dismissed the reports saying it was a fabrication by desperate people who want to pitch him against the judges.
The statement issued on Friday in Jos, by Gyang Bere, the governor’s spokesperson,
condemned in strongest terms “the baseless and defamatory publication,” saying, some “unscrupulous elements, out to sow a seed of discord between him,  the esteemed judges and constituted authorities were behind the fabrication.”
The governor called on security agencies to thoroughly  investigate the libellous publication and apprehend those behind it.
“The governor emphasised the need to ensure that the individuals behind the fabricated and libelous publication face the full consequences of the law with a view to setting a precedent that discourages similar misconduct.
“Governor Mutfwang unequivocally distanced himself from the false narrative, dismissing it as mere fabrications crafted by individuals who are being manipulated as pawns by the opposition party in Plateau State”, the statement said.
Bere said, the latest move was aimed at tarnishing the image of the PDP government in Plateau state, stressing  that “such malicious action will not deter Mutfwang’s commitment and confidence in the judiciary.”
The statement readfirmed the governor’s “unwavering support for the judiciary and  warned  those  disparaging the justices and respected leaders, to desist from their destructive activities immediately or face the severe consequences of their actions.”
