Gabriel Magaji, a 38-year-old man in Masaka, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa state, has committed suicide by hanging himself over his wife’s alleged infidelity.
Magaji was said to have killed himself on Monday after finding out that his wife was sleeping with his friends and collecting money from them.
Nansel Ramhan, spokesperson of the Nasarawa state police command, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday in Lafia.
The statement did not, however , say why the man killed himself.
Ramhan said, “On Monday around 7am, a report was lodged by a staff of Crystal School Masaka, in our office in Masaka Division, that an unidentified man was found hanging in one of the classes, in Crystal School Masaka.
“Upon receipt of the complaint, the DPO led his men to the scene and untied the corpse and took it to the General Hospital Mararaba, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor, so the corpse was deposited in the morgue.”
He added that the police command had commenced a thorough investigation into the incident to unravel the actual reason for his death.
The statement said no suicide note was seen at the location where the man hung himself.
However, a Facebook post claimed that Magaji killed himself after discovering that his friends had been sleeping with his wife and giving her money.
