Labour suspends nationwide strike over minimum wage

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended their nationwide strike for a few days. Sources at the NLC the National Secretariat of the NLC said the strike has been “relaxed for a few days”.
The organiser labour had on Monday embarked on nationwide strike after negotiations with the federal government on a new minimum wage met a brick wall. Economic and government activities across the country were paralyse during the strike.
The strike was suspended after a national executive council (NEC) of the labour unions on Tuesday in Abuja.
The strike was suspended following an agreement on the new minimum wage between the federal government and labour leaders at a meeting held on Monday evening in Abuja.
