The Managing Director of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC), Mustafa Sugungun, has appealed for the cooperation of the company’s host community for the successful completion of the ongoing maintenance project by Daewoo Engineering and Construction Nigeria Limited.
Speaking at a meeting of the KRPC Joint Community and Stakeholder forum on Friday in Kaduna, Sugungun, disclosed that the host community have the highest slots in the provision of manpower for the KRPC maintenance project.
Sugungun who was represented at the meeting by Sa,id Ahmed, manager, business services, said KRPC and Daewoo have sustained the tempo of impacting positively on the lives of the host community for economic prosperity through corporate social responsibility projects.
According to him, the meeting was an avenue for sharing information and ideas between KRPC management and the host communities.
He said further that “The meeting is also a forum where management and
community leaders discuss issues of safety, security, dispute management,
identifying and prioritizing development projects, medical outreach and other
Corporate Social Responsibilities for economic benefit of the host community.
“As you are all aware, the KRPC is currently undergoing a Quick Fix Maintenance
Service Project with Daewoo Engineering and Construction Nigeria Limited.
“I am happy to state that KRPC and Daewoo have sustained the tempo of impacting positively on lives of the host community for economic prosperity through corporate social responsibility projects.
“We have ensured that the immediate host community have the highest slots in
provision of manpower jobs in the ongoing project.”
Speaking further, Sugungun said it is also the firm resolve of KRPC management in executing CSR projects as enshrined in the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the host community.
“It is in light of this that we delivered a brand new Siemens 500 KVA transformer
to Oil Village, Mahuta Community that will be commissioned in a couple of days.
“We have also identified locations and started the process of constructing five solar powered bore holes, construction of a healthcare dispensary centre,
construction of two skill acquisition centres in Kaduna and Zaria and renovation
of 16 primary schools”, he said.
He said KRPC had over the years, initiated several community development projects such as the youth empowerment and skills acquisition programme that had empowered over 1,200 youths in the host community.
He added that the KRPC also constructed several boreholes, renovated schools and conducted immunization exercise for host community members against deadly diseases.
He said the host communities also contributed to success of the KRPC as “They variously synergised with us resulting in harmonious and peaceful environment for our continuous operations and we solicit their continues support.
Sugungun thanked the community leaders and urged them “to continue with this spirit of cooperation and the sky will be the limit in our relationship.”
