Sunday Katung, the senator representing Kaduna South senatorial zone, has called for more deployment of security personnel to the area to check renewed wave of banditry and kidnappings.
Katung made the call on Sunday at a special church service at the Fountain of Life Baptist Church, Kafanchan, Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
His appeal followed a resurgent of activities of bandits in some communities in Kauru, Kagarko, Kaura, Zangon Kataf, and Kachia LGAs of Kaduna state
“My best prayer wish is that banditry in southern Kaduna come to a stop,” the senator said while addressing the congregation.
He condemned the increasing cases of kidnappings in some communities in the area,  assuring them that security agencies were working diligently to address the issue frontally.
He said, “We are working assiduously in collaboration with all security agencies and government towards ending banditry in Southern Kaduna, we will not rest until our people are able to sleep with their two eyes closed,.
Katung also advised   the youths against involvement in criminal activities, warning that those involved will be apprehended and made to face the wrath of the law.
He solicited for prayers and support from the people, noting that no leader can succeed without the backing of the ci citizens.
Speaking earlier, Donald Arak,  President of Baptist Conference in  Southern Kaduna, commended the senator for his people-oriented leadership, which, according to him, prioritizes long-term development over personal gains.
“We are happy with your kind of leadership, which focuses on lasting legacies rather than the outdated practice of distributing money without tangible projects,” the clergy man said.
