Five people have been killed by bandits in communities in Giwa and Zangon Kataf Local Government Areas of Kaduna state.
In Zangon Kataf, the gunmen were said to have attacked Wawan Rafi village, killing four people, including a seven year old boy and his father.
Seven houses, one car and one motorcycle were also said to have been burnt during the attack.
The bandits were said to have invaded the community in the early hours of Monday.
The commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the killings in a statement on Monday in Kaduna, saying security personnel repelled the
assailants, who retreated into the forests.
According to him, troops recovered eight empty cases of 7.62mm ammunition at the scene of the attack.
The commissioner said among those killed in the attack were Joshua Dauda, his seven year old son, Philip Dauda, Francis Ayuba and Florence Dennis.
Similarly, the commissioner also said in Giwa LGA, the bandits stormed a sugarcane farm on the outskirts of Iyatawa village and killed one Isah Haruna, a resident of the area.
He said, “Governor Nasir El-Rufai noted the reports with sadness, and prayed for the repose of the souls of those killed in the attack, while offering heartfelt condolences to their families.”
