The Chairman of Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau state, Henry Gotip has been released by his abductors.
Gotip was abducted in the early hours of Wednesday at his residence in Kwang community, Jos South LGA.
His released was confirmed in a statement on Thursday by the
the spokesman of the Plateau state police command,Alabo Alfred.
The statement said the council Chairman was released at about 11pm on Wednesday,unhurt and had been reunited with his family.
“The Plateau State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public that Hon. Henry Jan Gotip, the Executive Chairman of Kanke LGA who was kidnapped on 06/09/2022 by unknown gunmen, has been released by his abductors unhurt yesterday, 07/09/2022 at about 2300hrs.
“The Kanke Local Government Council Chairman has been reunited with his family and will soon be debriefed by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command to build up to available intelligence that will lead to the arrest of his abductors”, the statement said.
The police called on members of the public to continue to assist the scurity agencies with timely information to ensure prompt responses to activities of criminals.
Alfred said the police will continue with investigations to fish out those behind the abduction of council chairman.
