Six people have been reportedly killed while 15 others injured in a suicide attack in Gwoza, Borno state..
According to agency reports, the unfortunate incident when a female suicide bomber detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) at a wedding ceremony in the town.
Yusuf Lawal, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, confirmed the incident.
He said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) briefed him about the tragedy, adding that at least six people were killed with 15 others rushed to the hospital.
Reports by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) noted that an eye witness who identified himself as Buba said the suicide bomber targeted the wedding ceremony.
NAN qouted Buba, saying that the attack shattered the joy and celebration of the special day, leaving families and loved ones in mourning and pain.
The attack was said to have occurred at about 1:30 pm.
“We heard a very loud sound of explosive, accompanied with dust; then we saw bodies on the ground,” the report quoted Muhammed Kasim, another eye witness.
He added that the victims were evacuated to the hospital while security agencies were deployed to the area.
According to NAN, an unconfirmed report said after the first bomb blast, another suicide bomber entered the car that evacuated the dead bodies and detonated another bomb.
NAN also gathered that a third suicide bomber followed people to burial ground again and detonated another bomb.
