Kaduna state governor, Senator Uba Sani, has called on local and international investors to explore the abundant opportunities in the housing sector of the state.
The governor made the call on Wednesday at the groundbreaking ceremony of the 200-hectre Housing Project by Urban Shelter at Millennium City, Kaduna.
Represented by his deputy, Hadiza Balarabe, the governor, the project is a testament to his administration’s commitment to transforming the housing landscape in Kaduna.
“This significant investment is a clear indication that our drive to enhance the housing sector is gaining momentum,” he said.
Sani said his administration has employed strategies to address the housing deficit in the state.
According to him, some of the strategies include partnering with local and international investors; implementation of a robust social housing scheme, engaging in development lease agreements, and strengthening public housing corporations, among others.
“Our collaboration with both local and international investors has been pivotal in addressing our housing challenges head-on.
“Notably, the Qatar Charity, in partnership with the Kaduna state government, is currently constructing mass housing units for the less privileged, alongside the Kaduna Economic City, all within Millennium City.
“Recently, I had the honor of performing the groundbreaking for the 3,319 hectares Nuru Suraj, Ungwar Dosa New Extension Layout, a project realised through a fruitful Public-Private Partnership, which aims to develop 35,000 plots for our citizens”, the governor said.
Sani said the conducive environment created by his administration organisations like the Nigerian Airforce, Nigeria Customs Service, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and the Federal Housing Authority have embarked on mass housing projects in Kaduna state.
The said further that the recent International Housing Exhibition, provided a vital platform for stakeholders to share insights, explore innovative housing solutions, and address the pressing housing challenges in Northern Nigeria.
“By pooling our resources, sharing our ideas, and demonstrating unwavering commitment, we can transform the current challenges into opportunities, revitalizing the lives of our citizens,” the governor added..
He commended Urban Shelter for recognizing the potential of Kaduna state and for prioritising it in its investment strategy.
