Former Mayor of Blanco City, Texas, United States, and founder of Africa Arise International, Mr. Mike Arnold has issued a scathing public statement, accusing Nigerian social media influencer and former presidential aide, Mr. Reno Omokri, of serial dishonesty and complicity in efforts to deny and cover up the ongoing persecution and mass killings of Christians in Nigeria.
Arnold, who has spent several years researching and advocating on behalf of persecuted Christians in Nigeria, made the allegations in a statement posted to his official handle on X (formerly Twitter) Titled “The Truth About Reno Omokri is Sad”, the statement detailed Arnold’s personal interactions with Omokri, both in Nigeria and abroad, and paints a troubling picture of calculated manipulation, image laundering, and political opportunism allegedly orchestrated by the latter.
“I’ve seen it up close,” Arnold said, referencing multiple encounters with Omokri, including during a birthday safari in Kenya and during a more recent visit to Abuja, Nigeria
Arnold was in Nigeria on a fact-finding mission tied to his long-standing work on Christian persecution.
He alleged that Omokri invited him under the pretext of helping to amplify awareness about the crisis, only to use his presence for deceptive public relations.
According to Arnold, “Reno doesn’t lie like most liars. He lies calmly, cool, and constant. Up close, he’s reptilian. Chilling. Soulless. Yet so charming.”
The former mayor alleged that Omokri promised high-profile meetings with top Nigerian government officials, including President Bola Tinubu, National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, and the Sultan of Sokoto, all of which reportedly failed to materialise.
“Looking back, those promises were props for his narrative for clout and manipulation,” Arnold said.
He also accused Omokri of orchestrating photo-ops and falsifying the nature of their visit to give the impression of official sanction and collaboration.
“In Abuja, after 30 hours of travel, Reno pulled me into a photo-op with the compromised CAN (Christian Association of Nigeria) chairman.
“I barely got 60 seconds to change my shirt. He whispered, ‘Don’t mention you just arrived.’”
Arnold expressed outrage that Omokri subsequently took credit for trips and work he had independently funded over six years, misrepresenting the initiative as his own organised fact-finding mission.
Arnold further alleged that Omokri sought to use him to whitewash a “genocide against Christians” taking place in several parts of Nigeria. “Lying to inflate yourself is one thing, Lying to cover up the Christian genocide raging in Nigeria is a bridge too far, the former Mayor said.
He accused Omokri of misrepresenting not only their mission but also their identities, falsely introducing (him) Arnold on live TV as the current mayor of Blanco and a Republican party official, both of which, he said, are categorically untrue.
“He knows I’m not the current mayor. I haven’t been active in any political party for over 30 years,” Arnold stated.
Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has long been a polarising figure in Nigerian politics and social commentary, often using his social media platforms to defend or attack political figures.
Arnold’s statement further accused Omokri of pathological dishonesty and likening him to Joseph Goebbels, the infamous Nazi propagandist.
“People must know Reno Omokri is a pathological, habitual, calculating, self-serving liar — from someone who knows him personally.
“If he doesn’t repent, Omokri will go down as Nigeria’s Joseph Goebbels cast into the lake of eternal fire.”
He further accused Omokri of pursuing a “phantom appointment” from the current administration and alleged that Omokri harbours ambitions to contest for vice president under NSA Ribadu in the future.
“Reno Omokri has the blood of innocents on his lying tongue. He doesn’t care. “What’s an ocean of martyrs’ blood to him, so long as he secures the phantom appointment Tinubu dangles before him?”
Omokri has yet to formally respond to the allegations.

He introduced my travel companion as a prominent Republican filmmaker. Not true. My friend does hobby projects, nothing major in decades. I don’t know what party he favors.
How do you know if Reno Omokri is lying? His lips are moving.
