Eight Plateau traders die, 13 others injured in fatal motor accident in Jigawa

Eight traders from Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau state on a business trip to Jigawa state have died in a fatal motor accident.
Thirteen others were said to have sustained serious injuries in the incident which occurred on August 29, 2023, in Ringim.  The traders were said to have traveled to Jigawa state for business.
The vehicle was said to have burst into flames as it crashes. Details of the accident were scanty.
President of the Ngas Development Association (NDA), an umbrella body for the Ngas ethnic nationality in Plateau state, Gonen Gofwen, confirmed the unfortunate incident in the association’s WhatsApp group platform.
Gofwen announced on the WhatsApp platform that, “Eight people died while 13 others sustained severe degrees of burns.”
He said, “Currently those with injuries/burns are being conveyed down to Plateau”.
He added that those who sustained injuries were taken to the Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital, Duste, the Jigawa state capital and the General Hospital also in Duste.
Gofwen commended Plateau indigenes resident in Jigawa state for coming to the aid of the victims.
The NDA president said those who died in the unfortunate incident include: Yilwung Seri, Tongkopba Burang, Fitmwa Dagum, Shangji Lur, Zatshiwa Lur, Tongwe Lashime, Shikfu Ngontal Lur and one unidentified person.
The NDA president appealed to well meaning individuals to assist the victims, adding that such assistance should be channeled through the NDA Chairman, Jigawa State chapter.
Gofwen said, “Having recognised the effort and assistance offered by our brothers and leadership in Jigawa, we are passionately appealing to our well spirited individuals for assistance for the victims.
“Any form of assistance should kindly be sent through NDA Chairman Jigawa State and revert your effort to us for the records.
