Edward Auta, Special Adviser to Hassan Hyat, State Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has indicated interest to succeed his boss.
The PDP state Congresses is scheduled for July 17, 2024, where state officials would be elected.
Speaking at an interactive session with journalists on Thursday in Kaduna, the 36 year newbreed politician, said he has the capacity, to steer the affairs of the PDP in Kaduna state.
“I am contesting for the position of the state party Chairman not because Iam just a youth, but because I am a youth with capacity to lead the party. I am well-equipped for the job,” he said.
According to him, the PDP in Kaduna state needs the energy of the young and the wisdom of the old to take it to an enviable height.
Auta said, “the agitation by the youth for inclusion into the leadership positions of the party is timely and necessary because politics has gone scientific and we must go along with global trend”.
Besides, he said, he is familiar with the problems bedevilling the PDP in the Kaduna state.
He added that with the help of party faithfuls he will be able to navigate the PDP out of the guagmire if elected as the state chairman.
“I have served Kaduna state PDP chapter in various capacities. In 2019, I headed the print media unit of the Isah Ashiru Kudan governorship campaign directorate and in 2023, I headed the print media unit of his campaign team.
“I am currently serving as Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs to the present PDP Chairman of Kaduna State, Rt. Hon. Hassan Hyat.
“So, I am an insider, and being an insider, I can tell you people that I know the challenges confronting the party.
“I have the blueprint to resolve these issues for the good of the party.
“If I become the party chairman, PDP will defeat Governor Uba Sani in 2027”, Auta said.
