A former presidential aide, Dr. Doyin Okupe is dead.
Family sources said Okupe died on Friday morning in Lagos after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was aged 72.
A medical practitioner and politician, Okupe served as special assistant on media and publicity to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and later as senior special assistant on public affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
He was also the director-general of the Labour Party (LP) presidential campaign in 2023.
Okupe joined the LP from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the 2023 general election.
He later resigned his membership of the LP in January 2024, after the election.
Okupe was born in Iperu, Ogun state on March 22, 1952. He earned his medical degree from the University of Ibadan in Oyo state.
He, alongside two others, co-founder of the Royal Cross Medical Centre, Obalende, Lagos.
