Bandits reportedly kill over 40 in Plateau community

Bandits have reportedly killed over 40 people in an attack on Zurak village in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau state. Sources in the community said the bandits attacked the community at about 5 pm on Monday.
The source said those killed include some members of the vigilante group.
It was also gathered that due to poor telephone network, the community could not immediately report the incident to security agencies.
The bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, were said to have invaded the community on motorcycles while brandishing sophisticated weapons.
They were said to be shooting sporadically.
“Many people were killed. More than 40 people were killed while many were injured.
Residents of the village have fled to neighbouring communities for safety. As of yesterday, security personnel had not yet arrived at the community. It was deadly,” the source said.
Alabo Alfred, spokesperson of the Plateau state police comannd could not be reached as his telephone was not connecting.
Gyang Bere, spokesperson of Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau state, could not immediately respond to a message sent through his WhatsApp on the incident.
