The Northern Awareness Network (NAN) has urged all those who emerged victorious during Saturday’s council polls in Kaduna state to serve the people with integrity and dedication.
In a statement in Kaduna, the group tasks the elected chairmen and councillors in the 23 LGA of the state to work towards the development and progress of the grassroots.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, was declared winner of all the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions in the 23 LGAs.
The statement signed by Salihu Sulaiman, chairman of the group commended the Kaduna state Independent Electoral Commission (SEICOM) for the successful and peaceful conduct of the polls.
The group noted that voters demonstrated a high level of civic responsibility and commitment to the democratic process by participating in the polls.
Suleiman said, “the challenges posed by the ongoing security situation, voters adhered to safety protocols and exercised their right to vote in a peaceful and orderly manner.
“We would also like to commend the police and other security agencies for their professional conduct during the elections.
“Their presence helped in ensuring a safe and secure environment for voters to exercise their democratic rights.
“We appreciate their efforts in maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process.”
According to him, the successful conduct of the elections is a testament to the commitment of SIECOM and all stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
“We urge all elected officials to serve the people of Kaduna State with integrity and dedication, and to work towards the development and progress of the state.
“NAN remains committed to promoting democracy, good governance, and civic engagement in Northern Nigeria.
“We will continue to monitor and support efforts to strengthen the electoral process and ensure that the voices of the people are heard.
“We look forward to seeing the positive impact of the newly elected officials on the development of the grassroots”, the statement said.
