The Kaduna State Security Council has imposed restrictions of movement throughout the state during Saturday’s council polls.
In a statement on Friday, Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, said movement has been restricted from 6 am to 7 pm on Saturday to ensure peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections.
The statement added that vehicular movement, as well as commercial and other related activities that may constitute impediments to law and order, are to cease within the period of the restriction.
Aruwan said, “Only persons performing essential duties are exempt from this restriction, and may move during the period with proper identification and clearance.
“Citizens are thus advised to refrain from actions that could disrupt public peace or affect smooth conduct of the elections. Security agencies have been deployed to ensure enforcement and compliance.
“Members of the general public are also urged to promptly report any observed acts which threaten law and order to security agencies, and not take laws into their hands.
The Chairmanship and Councillorship elections will hold in the 23 LGAs and the 225 wards in the state.
