Gunmen have abducted the wife and maid of Terwase Orbunde, a former chief of staff to Samuel Ortom, ex-governor of Benue state. According to TheCable, the incident reportedly occurred at about 6 pm on Friday around the Genocide cemetery, along mobile barracks-welfare quarters road in Makurdi, the Benue state capital.
Orbunde, alongside Abigail Kashimana, his wife; and Patience Ogute, their maid; were said to have gone to inspect the weeding of their farm when five armed men swooped on them.
Orbunde was said to have sustained a gunshot wound as the gunmen made away with the other two.
Eyewitnesses rushed Orbunde to hospital after the attack.
Catherine Anene, spokesperson of the Benue police command, confirmed the incident to TheCable.
Kidnapping for ransom has been rife in Nigeria’s northern region in the last decade.
