Plateau state governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has asked government appointees
to explore ways of sourcing funds for investment and development of the state.
The governor stated this, in Jos, at the swearing in of heads of government agencies, constituencies liason officers and special advisers.
He said government officials must to put on their “thinking caps because there is no money to share.”
Mutfwang said Plateau has suffered enough distraction, stressing that it was time to say “enough is enough.”
The governor said agriculture is one of the key areas his administration will focus on, to
liberate the state from poverty.
Addressing the appointees, Mutfwang said, “I believe that in one way or another, Plateau state has benefited you, and it is time to give back something to the state
“We have come from different diverse backgrounds.
Of course, the attitude in our clime when you get an appointment, they say you have made it, but I can inform you that you have come in a season of poverty.
“So it means we must join hands together to create wealth. We are at a very difficult juncture in the history of this country.
I am an advocate that after election, you forget politics and face governance”.
He said further that, “Even though the federal government is being led by a party other than my own, I owe it a duty to tell Nigerians the truth that this government inherited the worst situation than 1999.
“We are lucky on the Plateau that perhaps we have more food than many other states and I pray that a time will not come on the Plateau that we see this kind of riot for food. We must roll off our sleeves and work.
“Some of the appointees, I don’t know them, but because we want things done, we are looking for the right people and we are confident that with their coming on board, they will add value to governance.
“So the most critical task for all the advisers, you must go and look for money.
“There is no money to share, you must put on your thinking caps and help us source for money for investment and development.”
The governor said Plateau has suffered enough distraction and “it is time is now to say enough is enough.
“Enough of the bloodshed on the Plateau. “We are still going to make a few appointments. As we get along, we are going to find spaces for as many people as we can bring on board.
“But you will agree with me that not everybody can come on board. We treasure your advise from wherever you are.
“One of the key things we must focus on as we settle down is the business of agriculture.
“All of us, without exception, should begin to think agriculture because if we don’t liberate all the potentials that God has deposited in the land we will not liberate ourselves from poverty.
“To go back to agriculture, there must be peace, that is why we have resurrected Plateau Peace Building Agency to pilot our strategy in ensuring that peace returns to every nook and corner of Plateau state”.
