A woman and her son have been kidnapped by gunmen at Dogarawa New Layout in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
Chairman of the security committee constituted by residents of the area, Gafai Katsina, said the bandits stormed the area in the early hours of Monday.
He said, the community vigilante could not confront the criminals who were armed with deadly weapons.
According to him, the bandits broke into the residence of one Alhaji Bello Adamu and abducted his wife and son.
Katsina said Bello was matcheted by the hoodlums and was taken to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) Shika-Zaria, for treatment.
Katsina said further that, two tenants residing in the compound were tied in their rooms before the woman and her son were taken away.
Mansur Hassan, spokesperson of the Kaduna state police command confirmed the incident in a telephone interview.
He identified the victims as Halimatu Bello and Yusuf Bello.
Hassan said the police has swung into action in an effort to rescue the victims and also commenced an investigation into the matter.
He called on members of the public to be more vigilant and report any suspicious movement to security agencies.
