Eleven people have been abducted in Mararaban Rido, a suburb in Kaduna city.
A community leader of the area who preferred to remain anonymous said the incident occurred at about 10pm on Monday.
He said the criminals who were well armed broke into three houses.
He added that one person was shot and was receiving medical treatment in the hospital.
“In the first house, they abducted six people, in the
second house, four people were abducted and in the third house, one person was picked, while one person was shot and is receiving treatment in the hospital,” he said.
He added that most of those abducted were women and children.
The community leader said for the first time, residents of the area were experiencing such ugly incident, saying that he suspects the criminals may have been collaborating with informers.
“This is the first time these criminals are coming to do this in my community and I suspect they may have been working with informers.
“The informers must have informed them about the operations and movement of the Vigilante group in the community.
“That is why they were able to entered a part of the community to abduct people in the homes.
“By the time security personnel arrived, the criminals had escaped.
“But two suspects were arrested in connection with the incident”, he said.
Spokes person of the Kaduna state police command Mansur Hassan, could not be reached when contacted as his mobile telephone was not connecting.
