The Nigeria Citizen Watch for Good Governance (NCWGG) has dismissed the  Special Investigator on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Related Entities by describing it as
concocted stories aimed at misleading Nigerians.
The report by  Jim Obazee, the CBN special investigator, had alleged  that Godwin Emefiele, former CBN governor, illegally lodged billions of naira in foreign currencies in no fewer than 593 bank accounts in the United States, United Kingdom, and China without the approval of the apex bank’s board of directors and the CBN Investment Committee.
However in a statement, Mayowa Ajibade, spokesperson of  NCWGG, said the report submitted to President Bola Tinubu by  Obazee, “is full of flaws” and aimed at settling personal scores.
Ajibade said, “for example, in the report, Jim Obazee stated that  Emefiele  never got approval for the Naira re-design when on the contrary, former President Buhari made several public statements taking full responsibility for the Naira re-design.”
The statement maintained further that the report “also  contained  events that never happened.
“In fact, most of the names mentioned in the report have publicly debunked and rejected what was written by Jim Obazee.”
The group accused Obazee and his sponsors for being “so eager to slander, defame and tarnish the reputation of notable Nigerians who have served the nation diligently in their various capacities.”
The NCWGG called on Nigerians to ignore the report, maintaining that it is full of biases and the zeal to settle scores.
“On this note, we call on Nigerians to ignore the findings of Mr Obazee as the report is full of biases and is greatly influenced by the zeal to settle personal score”, the statement said.
