The Kaduna State ministerial nominee, Abbas Balarabe, collapsed during his screening before the Senate on Wednesday. Balarabe collapsed shortly after his presentation which was followed by praises by Senator Sunday Katung, representing Kaduna South senatorial zone.
The incident threw the senate into confusion as the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, started screaming, “Bring water and sugar. Call Dr Musa.”
Akpabio then immediately called for a closed-door session.
Balarabe was rushed to the senate clinic for medical attention where he was stabilised
Balarabe was the immediate past secretary to the Kaduna state government (SSG) having served in the same position for eight years under former governor Nasir El-Rufai.
He was nominated as a replacement for El-Rufai whose confirmation was as minister was withheld by the senate following security reports from the Department of State Services (DSS).
Balarabe appeared for the ministerial screening, alongside Dr. Jamila Ibrahaim and Ayodele Olawande as Minister of Youths and Minister of State for Youths respectively.
