The Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Isaac Zankai and a member of the house representing Zaria state constituency, Suleiman Dabo, have dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for the Labour Party (LP). Zankai represents Kauru state constituency in the state Assembly.
Umar Ibrahim, National Secretary of the LP and Chairman of the governorship Campaign Council, disclosed this at the inauguration of a 450-member Campaign Council of the party and the unveiling of its manifesto in Kaduna on Thursday.
Ibrahim said half of the state House of Assembly members were “Obi-Datti” apostles.
He said the support the LP was receiving from the personalities in the state, is an indication that the LP has bright prospect in winning the 2023 elections at the state and the national levels.
He said, “today is one of the happiest moments in my life. I have gone around to campaign for our presidential candidate, Peter Obi and I have received great receptions.
“I am particularly impressed by the calibre of personalities that grace this inauguration. In the entire northern states, we don’t have any personality that dumps APC and join Labour Party except in Kaduna State with the Deputy Speaker and another member from Zaria state constituency.”
He called on party members in the state to unite that the LP will emerge victorious in the elections.
Ibrahim called on Nigerian youths, who constitutes majority in the LP not to relent until Obi-Datti formed the next government in the country, noting that power resides with the youths.
In his address at the occasion, Jonathan Asake, Kaduna state governorship candidate of the party, described the LP as a divined movement.
He urged members of the campaign council to see their assignment as a call to service considering the current mood of the nation.
Asake said, “This is a call to service because the mood in the nation is that the Labour Party must take over the nation.
“The mood of the nation is nothing other than the readiness of the youths to take over Kaduna and Nigeria so that the country will be a production nation and not a consuming nation.
“This is a divine movement and God’s hand is in the movement. “May peace comes to Nigeria so that we may not experience hunger, or kidnapping again”.
