Tangale Community swears – in caretaker committee

The General Assembly of the Tangale Community Development Association (TCDA), the umbrella socio-cultural body for the seven clans of the Tangale nation, Gombe State, has inaugurated a caretaker committee to serve for a period of six months.
The TCDA, in a statement by Richard Yusuf, its Public Relations Officer (PRO), said the committee was inaugurated on Sunday in Biliri, Gombe state.
He said a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the TCDA, Dr. Daniel Maddo who spoke at the swearing-in of the care taker committee, called on the Tangale nation to rededicate itself to the development of its communities, despite the current challenges being faced.
Madodo said the situation in which the Tangale nation has found itself, called for deep reflections and more resolve to forge ahead in the face of daunting challenges.
He commended the Tangale nation for its “resilience, doggedness and unwavering commitment to stay afloat despite differences emanating from shades of opinions and personal interests.“
Also speaking at the occasion, an elder statesman, Mr. Danladi Bako from Tal, charged the Tangale nation to remain focused and work towards the re-birth of a new Tangale nation where everyone would be proud of.
He said, “As we approach the general election come 2023, we have the responsibility to change things we don’t like, and for us to do that, we must fully participate in the electoral processes to elect credible leaders, just like we have done with the election of new leadership in TCDA”.
Speaking shortly after he was sworn -in, the caretaker chairman of the TCDA, Pheneas Gambo, solicited for unity and support from all Tangale people to succeed in his assignment.
Gambo said, he was humbled by the unanimous decision taken by the General Assembly in picking him and his team to serve the Tangale nation and promised to do his best to deliver.
He said the TCDA was founded on the solid ground of righteousness, declaring that no amount of intimidation, blackmail or oppression will deter the association from achieving set goals.
He promised to address pressing issues in the community, especially, the implementation of the blueprint on ground.”
Gambo further promised that his team will consult with stakeholders to ensure the release of Tangale persons who are wrongly being detained.
Other members of the caretaker committee include, Reuben Bauna, Secretary; James Pass, Financial Secretary; Ishaku Bello, Treasurer, Raya Mailamba, Director of Socials; Richard Yusuf, PRO and Solomon Dangoje, Auditor.
The statement added that the General Assembly, being the highest decision making body of the TCDA, selected and ratified the caretaker committee members on October 11, 2022 at its meeting held in Billiri town.
