Buhari mourns Babatunde, veteran journalist

The President Muhammadu Buhari has mourned the famous journalist and writer, Abdulhamid Babatunde who died on Thursday in Kaduna.
Babatunde who served as editor of several newspaper titles including the defunct, Kaduna-based Democrat passed on following an illness. He was aged 66.
In a condolence message signed by Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu,
On Thursday in Abuja, Buhari said, “Abdulhamid Babatunde was a distinguished writer and journalist who contributed extensively to our elections in 2015 and 2019.
“He worked to strengthen the journalism profession as an eminent writer and unionist. “Always full of energy and ideas, passionate about Nigeria’s development, he will be missed by so many people.”
The President further described Babatunde’s demise a “huge void in the media” praying Allah to repose his soul and grant fortitude to his family and friends to bear the loss.
