The United Kingdom (UK) has eased its travel advisory for Kaduna state, upgrading its status from “Red” to “Amber” and allowing British citizens to travel more freely to the state.
Development Director at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Cynthia Rowe, announced this on Wednesday during the signing of a new development partnership with the Kaduna state government.
She  explained that the reclassification follows significant improvements in the state’s security situation.
Kaduna had been listed as a high-risk “Red” zone since 2022. According to Rowe, the upgrade reflects the state government’s efforts to enhance security, noting that it is  a positive message to potential investors.
As part of the visit, Rowe and the Kaduna state governor, Senator Uba Sani, signed the Kaduna Mutual Accountability Framework (KaMAF), a renewed agreement aimed at deepening collaboration in key sectors such as governance, health, education, and agriculture.
Speaking at the occasion, the governor highlighted the impact of the UK partnership, noting achievements such as reduced maternal and child mortality, better access to healthcare, upgraded school facilities, and improved teacher training.
Sani said over 10 per cent of the state’s 2025 budget has been allocated to increasing crop and livestock productivity, underscoring his administration’s commitment to agricultural development.
He said ongoing  reform programmes, including the Local Government Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (LFTAS) initiative; Issue-Based projects; and Community Development Charters, are being implemented to boost citizen participation and strengthen institutions
The governor  expressed confidence that the new framework would fast-track development and reinforce Kaduna’s position as a resilient and investment-ready state.
