Gunmen reportedly kill 47 in fresh attack on Plateau community

About 47 people have been reportedly killed in a fresh attack on Kimakpa village, Miango district of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau state.
Twenty two others were said to have sustained injuries in the attack which occurred in the early hours of Monday.
The attack came barely two weeks after gunmen unleashed terror communities in Bokkos LGA, killing over 80 people.
Sources in the community said the assailants invaded the village at about 2:30am on Monday, unleashing mayhem on residents.
The source added that a combined team of the Nigerian army, the police, and the mobile police force stationed at Miango responded swiftly to distressed calls by the community and engaged the attackers in a gun duel, preventing further damage.
Security operatives were said to have commenced a manhunt for the perpetrators with additional deployments to the affected area.
Sources in the community said the attackers who are suspected to be fulani herds men were were shooting sporadically, leading to the killing of 47 people so far.
Those injured were taken to the hospital.
