The Kaduna state governor, Senator Uba Sani, on Sunday,  flagged off the rebuilding of the historic Abdulkarim Juma’at Mosque in Zaria.
In  August 2023, a section of the 187 years old most caved in, killing six worshippers while 10 others were  injured.
Over N2 billion was realised  by the  committee that was set up to raise funds for the rebuilding of the Mosque.
Speaking at the flag off of the rebuilding of the Mosque, the governor expressed gratitude to all those who donated generously for the project.
Sani commended Alhaji AbdulSamad Isyaka Rabiu who was the chief launcher and  other donors, saying those who donated  for the rebuilding of the mosque will benefit in the hereafter.
He said the project will be completed in the next one and half years.
“The speed and manner in which people responded is a testament to the high esteem in which this great monument is held and the place of religion in our personal and national life,” Sani said.
The governor also  praised the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamali for his inspirational leadership since the tragic incident occurred, noting that the emir has been “working round the clock to ensure that a befitting edifice is erected here.”
