Plateau commissioner’s wife, daughter, freed after 10 days in captivity

The wife and daughter of the Plateau state commissioner for environment, Usman Bamaiya have been freed after 10 days in captivity.
They were abducted when gunmen invaded their Gindiri home, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau state on April 9, 2022.
The commissioner was said to be away when the incident occurred.
The gunmen were said to have released them on Monday at about 9: 30pm.
It could not be ascertained whether a ransom was paid for their release.
A resident of the Gindiri who confirmed their released, said the community celebrated their safe return home.
“We have been jubilating since last night following news of their release and safe return,” the resident said.
Spokesman of the Plateau state police command, Gaberial Ogaba, confirmed their release when contacted on telephone.
“They have been released and now reunited with their family. It was quite unfortunate, but thank God for their safe return”, Ogaba said.
