The Labour Party (LP) has reportedly won the Bogoro Councillorship Election in Lusa B Ward, Bauchi State, without fielding a candidate.
Local government elections in the state, held on Saturday, with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), sweeping all the Chairmanship positions amid allegations of manipulation by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to reports, the result of the election was announced at the Bogoro collation centre by Daniel Gambo, the Returning Officer of the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
The LP was said to have recorded 2,200 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Lucy Ahmadu Yusuf, came second with 2,168 votes.
The APC candidate, Mbam Masoyi, came third with 275 votes.
Residents of the area were said to have been surprised at the outcome of the election as the LP didn’t field a candidate but got the highest votes.
BSIEC is yet to make a pronouncement on whether the candidate of the party with the second highest votes could be declared winner.
