Plateau state governor, Mr. Simon Lalong, has warned that he will deal ruthlessly with any attempt to incite crisis in the state through fake information.
On Saturday, 22 travellers were killed following an attack that occurred along Rukuba road, Jos.
The victims were said to be commuters who attended a religious programme in Bauchi and were on their way to Ondo state.
The Plateau state commissioner of police, Mr. Edward Ebuka said at a news briefing on Saturday that those behind the killings were miscreants and hoodlums.
The governor who spoke on Monday after a visit to some of the victims, said his government would deal with anyone spreading inciting messages on social media.
“We will not allow religious crisis in the state
“People should stop the issue of sending wrong messages. Many of the issues that happened are as a result of that.
“I assure you that we are going after those people sending wrong messages leading to the killing of people.
“This is a clear warning to everybody who will want to use this opportunity to bring back what we have already forgotten, This is the time to deal with such people no matter their status”, the governor said.
Several people were said to have been arrested in connection with the killings.
About 20 people are said to have been arrested in connection with the killings.
The governor who visited the victims of the attack at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Jos and the Plateau Specialist Hospital was accompanied by his deputy, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, Head of Security agencies in the state, and the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of north central, (DIG) Sanusi Lemu.
Lalong also visited the Redeemed Christian Church of God, located at Bauchi Ring road which was burnt by some hoodlums.
