Lalong lauds Buhari for assenting to bill upgrading FCE Pankshin to university

The governor of Plateau state, Mr. Simon Lalong has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for assenting to the bill for upgrading the Federal College of Education, Pankshin, to a University of Education.
Lalong in a statement on Thursday in Jos, by his spokesman, Macham Makut, said he was optimistic that the upgrading of the institution to a university will address the challenges of shortage of well-trained teachers in the country.
The governor said he was excited with the emergence of another tertiary institution  in Plateau state following the upgrading of college to University of Education.
The statement said, “This is another cheering news for the government and people of Plateau state who last year welcomed two private universities and a Federal Polytechnic after approvals were granted by the federal government.”
The governor commended the sponsor of the bill, Hon.Yusuf Gagdi, member representing Pankshin, Kanam and Kanke Federal Constituency for his doggedness in pursuing the bill and lobbying his colleagues.
He also commended all federal lawmakers from Plateau state and the leadership of the National Assembly for the various roles they played in ensuring that the law was passed and sent to the President for assent assuring  that the Plateau state government will give every support to the federal government to ensure that the university takes off.
He added that the available infrastructure in the college will give it a strong start.
