Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has extended the conduct of the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) by two weeks.
A statement signed by the Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede said the decision to extend the exam was taken a two-day meeting with stakeholders in Abuja.
Oloyede said stakeholders recommended that a two-week extension be granted to candidates who had not been able to register as a result of some challenges associated with the National Identification Number (NIN) and others.
Oloyede also announced the extension of the registration of candidates for the 2021 UTME and Direct Entry (DE), saying the exam will start from June 19 and end on July 3.
He added that the mock exam will take place on May 29, 2021, while the registration which was supposed to end on Saturday (today) had been extended by two weeks.
The exam was earlier scheduled to hold from Saturday, 5th to Saturday, 19th June, 2021.
JAMB had on Friday said over 600,000 potential candidates were unable to register for the exam following issues with the mandatory use of NIN.
“We have agreed that a two-week extension be granted to candidates who have not been able to register as a result of some challenges associated with the National Identification Number, NIN, and others, Oloyede said.
