Gunmen on Thursday night invaded Sansani community, Gasol Local Government Area of Taraba State, killing the traditional ruler, Alhaji Abdulmutalib Nuhu.
The gunmen were said to have stormed the community at about 9pm and headed straight to the palace of the third class chief.
Nuhu Salihu, an elder brother to the deceased, confirmed the incident in a chat with Amazingtimes.
He said the gunmen came on motorcycles, shot his brother to death and left with his phones.
“They came to the area at about 9pm last night. They went straight to his palace, shot and killed him, took his two mobile phones and left.
“As they were leaving the village, they also shot at a young man who was riding on a motorcycle, breaking his leg,” he said.
The spokesperson of the Taraba state police command, James Lashen, confirmed the incident, saying police personnel have been deployed to fish out the perpetrators.
